Doubting Freedom

This doesn’t refer to the freedom to doubt but to the doubt that we are free.

It is the doubt that questions if we can be free. Have you been so drenched in slavery to the world and captive to the ways of the world that all your thoughts, actions and inactions are tailored to and by the world? Have you lived all your life subject to the world such that freedom from the world causes doubt to you? You doubt everything that makes you free except that which prevents your freedom. I know how that feels.

It feels like freedom is too abstract to be real.

That reality is a cage and all real things are in bondage. It feels like freedom is a cage and true freedom is slavery. It feels like numb affection: everything that points to you that you are free seems too good to be true and real. For the children of Israel – who’s living generation had known slavery all their lives, freedom looked like a trap. They doubted their own freedom. It was a thing of the mind: the body can be free from shackles and chains and burdens but the mind is caged in a longing to live life as it comes. The acceptance of life outside GOD’s Divine Law of love is the very example of doubting Freedom which gives you enough freedom to doubt in the first place.

For you, it could be that the deliverance from a secret sin is too good to be real; for me, it could be that accepting total liberation from a broken and chained mind is very difficult and close to impossible.

Doubt is not just speculation and refusal to believe but the inability to accept what you believe.

What do you believe?

Do you believe GOD?
Do you believe GOD can save?
Do you believe GOD can save your soul?
Do you believe GOD can save your soul from death?
Do you believe GOD can save your soul from death; even the death of the debt of sin?

How is this doubt of freedom exhibited?

Through worship.

There is an innate purpose of the heart to worship and when it feels the absence of GOD (because GOD doesn’t come as we sometimes expect), they seek to make a replica of GOD. But even when we see GOD as mightily as HE comes, we want to hold on to the frailty of the man through whom GOD comes to us. Which is why, if a man from GOD fails and falls off line, we find ourselves loosing faith in GOD. This is because, we have always doubted our freedom since we now have the freedom to doubt in the first place.

How do you overcome Doubting Freedom?

By hitting every point of doubt with a force GOD’s Word. Whatever GOD has said and is saying concerning an issue of doubt is your weapon of defense to the doubt that opposes the belief of your freedom.

Has GOD said you are a free by HIS Grace? Has GOD said you are saved by HIS Love? Has GOD said you are delivered by HIS Will? Has GOD said HE is your light and your shield? Has GOD said HE is your help and your guide? Has GOD said HE is your help and strong tower? Then hold on to these pillars of strength which are able to keep you from falling and keep you from doubting that you are free.

By getting GOD’s Word on every issue of life which may or may not be able to doubt.

Amen
